When is it justified?
The loosening of your vaginal muscles might not only cause sexual problems but incontinence as well. The reason behind the slackening of your muscles might be a damage you suffered during childbirth or depending on your genetics, a natural sign of aging. Plastic surgery tightens your vaginal muscles by lifting the frontal and the back vaginal walls. Our plastic surgeon examines you during a preliminary consultation and shows you his reference works to illustrate the expected best outcome.
Before the surgery, you have to undergo a complete and throughout screening. To make the process more comfortable for you, we perform all the necessary screenings at our Institute in the same place and time. Besides laboratory tests, our surgeon might recommend you to have an ECG examination and an ultrasound screening. You also have to have a consultation with the anesthesiologist before the surgery. Your plastic surgeon will also inform you about the advised temporary adjustments in your lifestyle to speed up your recovery. The ideal date for the surgery is around the 7-10th day of your menstrual cycle, so your wounds will have enough time to heal before your next period.
The course of the intervention
The plastic surgeon consults with your gynecologist in order to determine whether it is necessary to lift both the frontal and back vaginal walls, or the correction of only one of them will be sufficient. The plastic surgery of the frontal wall consists of making vertical incisions along the mucous membrane situated below the urethra. Through these the bladder is lifted and the now unnecessary part of the vaginal wall is removed. The correction of the back wall means the removal of unnecessary epidermis from a certain area, then joining the muscles from either side. The absorbable sutures we use will spare you the unpleasantness of having the stitches removed. The complete intervention takes 1 hour.
Recovery and aftercare
After the intervention you spend one night in our hospital where you can relax in a calm and exclusive environment. It is important to pay extra attention to intimate hygiene and to avoid any strenuous physical activity for the first two weeks and even after this period, return to your previous lifestyle gradually, but 3 weeks after the surgery some light exercise is allowed. However, you should not have sexual intercourse for 6 weeks. It is not recommended to visit a tanning salon or sauna for two months. Your control examinations will be scheduled for the 7th and 14th days after the intervention, and two additional ones during week 6 and 12.
The risk of complications is very low, but if there is any, it can only be inflammation, bleeding or temporary urination problems.
