By this time, you must be getting impatient which is understandable: you would prefer to meet your child and hold him in your arms instead of carrying the increasing weight. Although your family and friends might tell you to make the best of these last weeks to gather your strength for the long sleepless nights that are ahead of you, you cannot wait to see how your new life will work out with the baby.

His skin color is turning pink, his head circumference and his body proportions are the size of a newborn’s. He swallows more amniotic fluid now that makes his kidneys, bowels and stomach work properly. The alveoli of his lungs are filled with liquid until he is born. As he can taste what you eat through the amniotic fluid , you should avoid spicy dishes.
There are no recommended examinations for this week, but do not forget to get a massage.
Take special care of your health during the last months as the different viruses and infections might harm the baby. Keep your distance from sick people.
Mind your posture. Back pains can get more frequent now especially if your abdominal and back muscles are weak and the extra weight is mostly supported by your spine. When you are standing, do not lean backwards; do not pull your shoulders up and keep stretching towards the ceiling with the crown of your head. Prop your waist with a pillow when you are sitting. Always lie on your side while sleeping and prop yourself. When getting up, do not use your abdominal muscles; rather push yourself up with your arms. Get on all fours and exercise your back by pushing your spine upwards and then pulling it back vertebra by vertebra. Repeat the movement 10-15 times twice a day.
