ABPM

ABPM (Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring) is a 24-hour monitoring of blood pressure. During the assessment values are recorded in 15-30 minute intervals. The belt pouch-sized device is attached to a blood pressure cuff secured on the upper arm, and the results are analyzed by computer.

This nowadays widely used examination technique eliminates the inaccuracies of doctor’s office measuring. It makes both the normal daily fluctuations of blood pressure and the reactions of the patient to various circumstances detectable.

The method also helps the patient associate the experienced complaints with his or her actual blood pressure, which might lead to a more conscious approach to the problem.
