Congratulations to our Medical Director for his Academy Membership!
Following his candidacy and admittance to the Academy as an associate fellow, Professor Hangody kept working on his biomechanical and cadaver studies. By that time he had garnered international acknowledgement for his signature autologous osteochondral mosaic plastic surgery and other cartilage restoration techniques, and focused his attention on endoprosthesis. Three years ago he came up with a unique implant system without the use of cement, which has been implemented in medical practice the world over. The next step in his cutting edge research was creating the modular system of the Sanat Swing revision knee prosthesis, which has become the standard surgical practice by now in revision operations. The commanding number of his disciples all over the world using his techniques is a clear sign of his significance as a mentor.
Prof. Dr. Hangody implies a series of different cartilage reconstruction techniques at Dr. Rose Private Hospital to treat various types and degrees of cartilage damage. Apart from his ground-breaking innovations in cartilage transplant and autologous plastic surgery, his research encompasses the primary and revision surgery of damaged anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments (ACL and PCL), minimally invasive hip and knee implants, as well as revision knee and hip prosthetics.
As a newly elected full member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Professor Hangody has been awarded the Széchenyi Prize, works as Head of the Traumatology Department at Semmelweis University, Chief of Orthopaedics and Traumatology Department at Uzsoki Hospital, and Medical Director at Sándor Péterfy Hospital in Budapest.
